DAHM Academy’s Level 3 Sports Massage Therapy (SMT) qualification is accredited by Active IQ and internationally recognised. The L3 SMT combines both theory and extensive practical training, providing you with the skills and knowledge to work with a wide range of clients, including both recreational and elite athletes, as well as members of the general public. Using comprehensive assessment and advanced treatment techniques, you will gain the knowledge and skills required to treat and rehabilitate a wide range of conditions.
Over the duration of the course, you will be educated to a professionally competent level, enabling you to progress directly in to the profession.
This qualification is suitable for those aged 16+, wishing to pursue a career in sports massage with healthy adults.
Course Aim:
To provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to:
– Provide sports massage therapy to a range of clients who have dysfunctional tissue, without acute/postacute injuries or underlying pathological conditions.
Objectives:
To provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to:
– Assess clients and construct a sports massage treatment plan.
– Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction.
– Understand how to determine the appropriate techniques for specific clients.
– Apply a range of sports massage techniques and understand their effects on the body.
Progression
This qualification provides progression on to:
– Active IQ Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy.
– Routes into fitness instructing.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements.
There is an element of communication involved (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 3.
Performing sports massage is a physical activity and learners will need to be fit enough to carry this out.
