What Is Sports Therapy?
A Sports Therapist, who is a Member of The Society of Sports Therapists is an allied health professional who has the knowledge, skills and ability to: prevent, assess and treat injuries, optimise performances, provide appropriate soft tissue treatments and rehabilitate conditions with exercise prescriptions and planning.
Why would you benefit from it?
Having a thorough and transparent assessment is essential for you as the client/patient to understand the process and reasons behind your pains/aches and/or injury. We will take you through this journey of assessment, appropriate treatments and having a plan in place for you to appreciate the road to recovery.
Asessments Include:
Movement Based Assessment
Movement Assessment
Here at DAHM, we like to understand the reasons you move the way you do. Humans adapt to pain, stiffness and tightness and therefore create compensatory patterns that may or may not lead to other issues. Movement analysis allows us to establish any of these changes and thereafter discuss the findings with you.
Gait Running
Analysis
Gait Analysis
Also an interesting service we offer at DAHM. We all run differently, some run energy ‘lags’ due to poor movement, coordination and/or strength, whilst others move to maximise potential. A gait analysis allows us to establish any lags and discuss whether there may be some exercises or treatment that may benefit efficiency.
Exercise capacity tests
Capacity Test
As part of the assessment process it may be appropriate to put you through a capacity test to establish the muscular coordination and endurance of a group of muscles, a particular limb or movement sequence. This can be specific to the movements found in your chosen sport/hobby.
Manual Therapy Services
Exercise Rehabilitation
Exercise Rehabilitation
Exercise Therapy or Rehabilitation should support any manual therapy technique. This can be from simple stretching or mobility based exercises to structured and progressive programmes that incorporate all aspects of rehabilitation including mobility, tissue tolerance, strength, strength endurance, power and sport/hobby specific drills.
